Lahey Clinic Honored for Offering English Classes for Its Immigrant Workers
Burlington, Mass. – September 30, 2011 – Lahey Clinic was one of nearly 20 Massachusetts businesses and agencies recently honored for their support of English Works, a public-private campaign designed to offer immigrant workers the opportunity to master the English language while on the job. Massachusetts Lieutenant Governor Timothy Murray singled out Lahey Clinic and the other entities with certificate honoring their participation in the project.
“This is a good news story: how business working cooperatively with government is creating opportunities to realize the American dream,” said Massachusetts Lieutenant Governor Timothy Murray.
“People embrace the idea of learning at work,” said Secretary of Labor and Workforce Development Joanne Goldstein. “It’s good for business, it’s good for workers, it’s good for the Commonwealth, and it’s good for us as the community.”
